Ana Marta Lins, Camilla Rodrigues, Isabel Magalhães and Rafaela Barcelos from Brazil
Our group is composed of four young architects. Ana Marta, Isabel and Rafaela who studied at the University of Minas Gerais and Camilla who studies at FUMEC. Both universities are located in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. During university, they all took part in exchange programs. Ana Marta studied in Paris, France, at Olivier Gerval Fashion Design Institute; Isabel in Lille, France, at École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture et Paysage de Lille (ENSAPL); Camilla and Rafaela, in Rome, Italy, at Sapienza Università di Roma.
Ana Marta, Camilla and Rafaela work at architecture companies, with projects such as building renovations, interior design and corporative constructions. Isabel works at an engineering company, with real estate incorporation.
Ana Marta had participated in projects of various scales, from the furniture detail to the study of traffic in the city of Rio de Janeiro. She loves working with urban planning, detailing structure, such as studying vernacular architecture. For her, what’s most important is the experience and exploration of architecture’s limits. Her dream is to work at RPBW Architects.
Camilla has already won an architecture competition for students, the theme of which was the female memory. She’s a great lover of all natural shapes and her interest area is sustainability. She believes that one of the most incredible components of architecture is the possibility of transforming small manual and sensible models, into builds with large scales that impact cities and people. Her dream is to work with Shigeru Ban.
Isabel worked with different sectors, including shopping centers, housing complexes and interior design. She is interested in housing projects, in all different dimensions it can be, and at the most different ways of lifestyle and living. For her, architecture is an excellent way to connect people and enhance cultures. Her dream is to work at MVRDV.
Rafaela believes that architecture should evoke and embrace emotions and interaction between people and spaces. She loves the way that architecture can dazzle the future within virtual reality and new technologies. Her dream is to work at BIG.
For us, architecture has an important role in transforming spaces to engage people and comfort human beings, citizens and communities while enabling different ways of life and living. We believe that it is possible to develop a better community, with an origin, in the present and in the future to be shared.
We participate in architecture competitions because we can explore creativity, create remarkable designs and study unusual themes. In this specific competition we were especially interested about the site, the city of Rome, a historical and cultural environment where Camilla and Rafaela had lived.
Architecture competitions are an important opportunity to explore several ideas and possibilities and improve skills and knowledge.
