Architecture competition "Nemrut Volcano Eyes" Honorable mention - Fang Xu, Yuxuan Jiang and Zhi Wen Sun

We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to the winners of one of our Honorable mentions for the “Nemrut Volcano Eyes” competition - Fang Xu, Yuxuan Jiang and Zhi Wen Sun from Canada!

Fang Xu, Yuxuan Jiang and Zhi Wen Sun from Canada

We are all freshly graduated from the University of Toronto architecture undergraduate program majored in Architecture Design. As all of us work full time in local architecture firms, our studio is more like a place where our talents meet our passion and enthusiasm, an escape from daily job, a place of infinite ideas and borderless creativity.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where company/ individuals have been involved?

We plan to work on projects of any scale as long as it triggers the sparks in our minds as a further architectural experiencing after work. This is the first time we three collaborated as a team.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Architecture is our self-expression from what we have, our extension of existence from normal working space, poetic yet realistic from books or imaginations, thus, it is our life.

Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?

Architecture vision competitions continuously trigger us to train our sensations on designing, redesigning and finalizing. As a team, we learn so much from each other through one architectural design.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?

Answer is attend, maximize your talent, be the best one.
