Green award winners from Poland

We are a group of first year MA students that met for the first time at Bialystok University of Technology, in Poland. The main aim of creating a team was to spend time in a creative way and work together on conceptual thinking.

Generally speaking, we would like to work well on various scales, as well as on a wide range of topics. Precise architectural details, multifunctional plans, but also process urbanism – architecture is perceived as being interdisciplinary and we do not want to confine ourselves to one branch.

Each of us has been involved in different academic projects, for instance The Space of Art, Augustis Museum of Photography, The Infobox Building and The Chapel.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where company/ individuals have been involved?

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of architect in your society?

Steen Eiler Rasmussen in "Experiencing Architecture" said “Architecture doesn’t rely on usual connection of plans, sections and elevations. It’s something different and simultaneously more powerful. It’s hard to explain, what it is, because its boundaries are not clearly defined. [...] But only this type of art is functional. It solves practical problems, creates tools and instruments, which we are using.“ It should be the ultimate definition. For us architecture is looking for answers to questions like “how to make space comfortable, useful and attractive for recipients?”
