Design a memorial that speaks to the cause of ending all nuclear weapons programs
We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to one of our Honorable mention winner for our “MICROHOME 2020” competition – Mauricio Bastidas Azotla from Mexico!
Mauricio Bastidas Azotla from Mexico
I am a young Mexican student about to graduate from the Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla with a degree in architecture. I have worked in small offices in Puebla to put into practice everything I have learned throughout my career. I have also had the opportunity to study and work in workshops abroad in Spain and Germany, to learn new lines of design in architecture and grow my knowledge every day.
Throughout my career, I have developed projects of all kinds, such as: housing, apartments, housing developments, ecotourism, urban equipment, urban design, interior design, furniture design, and future housing.
Architecture for me means very noble and imperative work in society, helping it to function properly. The role of an architect is basically to foresee that other "users" or "humans" like us feel comfortable navigating through the walls and floors, generating different experiences with different approaches.
This is the second time I participate in a worldwide contest, and the reason why I do it is because I can explore different lines of design, constructive methods, users, materials, and everything outside of the conventional.
My advice is to always take risks, have fun, and love what we do because, thanks to that, we grow as people for our society. Always keep in mind that we are learning new things all the time.
