Tomato Team from United Kingdom
Tomato is a studio collective founded in London, UK in 1991. The practice creates cross-platform, multi-media art and design projects, both commercial and research based. Tomato also publishes books and artworks, creates exhibitions and spaces, gives live performances, and hosts workshops and lectures. The scale of the studio collective fluctuates between 6 and 30 people but employs none.
The team brought together for the competition focus on small- to large-scale public installations both locally and internationally, as well as heritage projects on one hand and computational system architecture on the other. Some highlights include the Pixel Wall Installation at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London and design work on a pavilion for Plovdiv European Capital of Culture in Bulgaria.

Competitions provide a framework to explore how we see the world. A brief is the key that opens up and constrains our imagination.
Ideas should be developed for their own sake. Competitions offer a conduit for ideas to manifest themselves.
