Japanese Architecture - Traditionally Modern

Japanese architecture is at the focus of one of our latest architecture competitions, the Tokyo Popular Culture Laboratory. Throughout the centuries, Japan’s cultural identity has changed and adapted to the various influences of the time, as such there is no concrete Japanese architectural style to adhere to.

From a country that was once heavily influenced by Chinese architecture and Buddhist temples, leaps in technology have allowed Japan to develop its own inimitable architectural style.
