What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Architecture is the shaping and improving of space and the built envirovment. Architecture must respond to its immediate envirovment and designs must emerge from the local parametres of the specific site. Orientation, wind direction, material scarcity, temperature, sunpath, rainfall (or lack thereof) must be paramount when shaping a building.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?

Architecture vision competitions are often exotic and provide opportunities to work with unusual program types and sites. They are a great way to expand your horizons and practice your design skills, especially for young architects.
